- 16 oz of tofu cut into squares
- 1 C of red peppers chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger minced 2inches
- 1 tbsp garlic minced 4-5 pods
- 5-6 spring onions chopped 1/2 C
- 1/4 C soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Sri racha sauce
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Pinch of salt to taste
- Oil for pan frying the tofu
* In a hot pan, add 2-3 tbsp oil and let it heat up.
* Once the oil is hot spread across the tofu pieces and pan frying for 3-4 mins on each side.
* Once done take them aside.
* In the same pan, add ginger, garlic, spring onions and cook for a min. Then add the peppers cook for another min. (We want the peppers crunchy so don’t over cook them)
* Next add the soy sauce, sriracha, maple, sesame oil along with salt. Cook until it comes to a quick boil.
* Pour the mixture over the tofu and pair it with the asparagus quinoa as I posted on my feed.
Tips for the Best Pan Fried Tofu
- Pat the tofu dry before frying to get a crispier exterior — extra moisture keeps it from browning well.
- Don't overcrowd the pan: give the tofu pieces space so they crisp up rather than steam.
- Adjust the heat level by increasing or decreasing the sriracha to taste.
- Keep the peppers crisp by adding them last and cooking only briefly — this keeps the texture contrast with the soft tofu.
