Eating healthy doesn’t have to mean bland or complicated, and this pan fried tofu veggie stir fry is proof of that. Crispy golden tofu, crunchy red peppers, and a punchy ginger-garlic sauce come together in under 20 minutes – no marinating, no fuss, just a hot pan and a handful of pantry staples.
I originally shared this one as a quick reel – you can catch the original video on Instagram – and it’s become one of my go-to weeknight dinners because it checks every box: fast, protein-packed, and genuinely craveable.
Why Tofu Deserves a Spot in Your Weekly Rotation
Tofu often gets overlooked, but it’s one of the easiest ways to build a healthy, plant-based meal without sacrificing flavor or texture. A few reasons it’s worth keeping in your fridge:
- High in protein: Tofu is a complete protein, meaning it contains all nine essential amino acids your body needs — a rarity among plant-based foods. A 16oz block like the one used in this recipe delivers a substantial protein boost to your meal.
- Naturally low in saturated fat: Unlike many animal proteins, tofu is low in saturated fat and contains zero cholesterol, making it a heart-friendly protein source.
- Rich in essential nutrients: Tofu provides calcium, iron, magnesium, and manganese — nutrients that are especially valuable in plant-forward diets.
- Incredibly versatile: Its mild flavor means tofu takes on whatever you cook it with, from smoky and savory to sweet and spicy, like the sauce in this recipe.
- Quick to cook: Unlike many proteins, tofu doesn’t need long marinating or cook times. Pan frying it in cubes, like here, gives you a crispy exterior and soft interior in just a few minutes.
Adding tofu to your meals a few times a week is one of the simplest ways to eat healthier without overhauling your entire diet — it’s an easy swap that still feels indulgent, especially with a sauce this good.

Notes
Tips for the Best Pan Fried Tofu
- Pat the tofu dry before frying to get a crispier exterior — extra moisture keeps it from browning well.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan: give the tofu pieces space so they crisp up rather than steam.
- Adjust the heat level by increasing or decreasing the sriracha to taste.
- Keep the peppers crisp by adding them last and cooking only briefly — this keeps the texture contrast with the soft tofu.
