Sweet Potato Masala for Dosa – Easy South Indian Recipe
A quick, flavorful sweet potato masala recipe for dosa — made with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and a hint of lime. A healthy twist on classic South Indian potato masala, ready in 25 minutes.
- 1 large sweet potato boiled until soft
- 1 large onion chopped lengthwise
- 2 sprigs of curry leaves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 tbsp Chana dal
- 3-4 dried red chillies broken
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chili powder or Indian paprika
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 lime juice
- Handful of fresh cilantro
Add the oil to a pan, let it heat and add the cumin, mustard, curry leaves and Chana dal. Let them slightly brown.
Next add the onion and the broken red chilies. Sauté until onions are translucent.
Add the turmeric, salt and paprika. Mix well.
Lastly add the mashed sweet potato, mix until everything is blended. Squeeze the lime juice and top off with Cilantro.
Pair it with your favorite dosa.
